The Polytechnic University of the Philippines Alumni Association USA, Inc. (PUPAA-USA) was established only in March 2015 but has already developed strong ties with the Alma Mater and the alumni group in the Los Angeles community. Its initial fundraising activity in June 2015 was immediately followed by another successful fundraiser on Valentine’s Day 2016. The enthusiasm and active participation of the members of the association inspired Dr. Oscar Jornacion, Founder and Chairman of the Board, to launch the 1st PUP/PCC Global Reunion.
The first project being undertaken by PUPAA-USA is the construction of an Athletic Building at the PUP campus in Sta. Mesa, Manila, as requested by the PUP President, Dr. Emanuel De Guzman and Vice President Dr. Joseph Mercado. According to them, while PUP is the largest university in the Philippines, it is the only school that does not have an athletic building. The lack of athletic building in PUP drives the best athletes to go to other universities. The PUP officials also lamented the fact that if they would wait for the government to take actions, it would take ten years or more to fulfill this aspiration. Thus, PUPAA-USA took on the project and launched it during the 2016 Valentine’s Party celebration. The proposed 2-story Athletic Building will cost $150,000 to complete.
Amazingly, the project gained overwhelming support from PUP/PCC alumni in Los Angeles, and from those residing in various states in the US. And now alumni based in other parts of the world have also pledged full support for the project. As of May 15, 2016, the PUPAA-USA has already raised a total of $115,000.00. It’s just 23% away from its goal of $150K.
It is our hope that you will take an active role in this worthy cause. There are several ways you can help: by making a donation of any amount, by paying for membership, by attending the reunion or by becoming a sponsor. Sponsoring in Bronze $1K, Silver $2K, Gold $3K or Platinum $5K will get your name inscribed in the Wall of Fame near the entrance of the proposed Athletic Building. This is a legacy you will leave our Alma Mater to whom we owe our success in our careers and businesses. As Hellen Keller said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
We have the power to transform the lives of the students at PUP and provide a better future for our athletes who will carry the torch of PUP. There is still time.
Sponsorship forms are available. Please fill out and pledge to support our alumni and our Alma Mater. You will have an opportunity to select the payment plans that will fit your budget: Cash, Check or Credit Card to pay in full; Issue Post Dated Checks (PDC) for monthly deposit, Partial payments, or Automatic Payment Deduction (APD).
PUPAA-USA is a 501C3 non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible.
