GROUNDBREAKING OF TAHANAN NG ATLETA – PROJECT OF PUP/PCC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION-USA

pupaa_groundbreaking The newly formed PUP Alumni Association USA (PUPAA-USA) significantly became part of the 112th PUP Foundation Day Celebration for the first time. It was a very memorable day at PUP Main Campus in Sta. Mesa last October 1st, attended by PUPAA-USA board of directors: Dr. Oscar Jornacion (Chairman of the Board) and his wife Gilda Jornacion; Ms. Loi Herrera (President); Ms. Honeylette De Leon (VP); and Dr. Henry Divina (Advisor) and his wife Carie Divina. Also in attendance are more than 300 faculty and staff from the different branches of PUP all over the Philippines.

One of the highlights of the festivity is the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the PUP Tahanan ng Atleta, the initial project of PUPAA-USA. The realization of this dream, to have a home for the athletes, took a year for the PUPAA-USA team to plan. With the hard work of all the board of directors and their generosity, the team exerted all efforts and raised $175,000.00 during the first PUP/PCC Global Reunion in Las Vegas. This was when other fellow PUPians/PCCian pledged their generous sponsorships to make this dream come true for our university and the athletes.

The PUPAA-USA President Ms. Loi Herrera was the convocation speaker during this historic celebration. There were lots of activities, dances, singing, games and university awards such as the Service Awards, Research Awards and Outstanding Faculty of the Year- Model Employee of the Year. Buffet lunch for the guests was served at the Tahanan ng Alumna office and provided by FEDAAPI.
